Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Reservoir Engineer to optimize hydrocarbon recovery and assess new prospects in Benoni, Gauteng. You will analyze reservoir performance, forecast production, and collaborate with geoscientists and production engineers to drive efficient field development.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Petroleum Engineering with 7+ years of related experience; familiarity with Eclipse, Petrel RE, and CMG is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering; master's is a plus.
• 7+ years in reservoir engineering within Oil & Gas.
• Experience with Eclipse, Petrel RE and CMG.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration in teams.
• Experience in reserves estimation and production forecasting.
• Knowledge of enhanced oil recovery (EOR) techniques is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain reservoir models using simulation software to predict performance under varying production scenarios.
• Analyze well test data, production history and core data to understand reservoir characteristics.
• Perform material balance calculations and decline curve analysis to estimate reserves and forecast production.
• Develop and recommend optimal development plans, including well placement and injection strategies.
• Evaluate the economic viability of proposed development projects and enhancements.
• Conduct uncertainty analyses and risk assessments for reserves and forecasts.
• Collaborate with geologists to integrate geological models with reservoir simulations.
• Work with production engineers to implement and monitor field development plans.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for management and stakeholders.
• Stay updated on new technologies and methodologies in reservoir engineering.
