Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Operations Manager to oversee energy systems for mining operations near Klerksdorp, North West. You will lead generation, distribution, and maintenance, driving efficiency and cost reductions across large-scale industrial sites.

You will manage a engineering/operational team, implement best practices, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance while delivering strategic plans and budgets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Mining) or Operations Management; MBA advantageous.
• At least 10 years in operations management with 5+ years in a leadership role in energy/mining.
• Proven experience with energy systems, power generation and distribution in large industrial contexts.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage energy operations including generation, distribution, and maintenance for mining facilities.
• Develop and implement strategies to improve energy efficiency, reduce consumption and costs.
• Oversee energy infrastructure performance, ensure reliability and minimize downtime through proactive maintenance.

About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Operations Manager to oversee and optimize energy systems within mining operations near Klerksdorp , North West. This leadership role is critical for ensuring the reliable, efficient, and safe supply of energy to extensive mining facilities. You will be responsible for managing a team, developing operational strategies, and implementing best practices to enhance energy efficiency and reduce costs. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all aspects of energy operations, including generation, distribution, and maintenance for mining facilities .
• Develop and implement operational strategies to improve energy efficiency, reduce consumption, and lower operational costs.
• Oversee the performance of energy infrastructure, ensuring reliability and minimizing downtime through proactive maintenance and rapid response.
• Manage and mentor a team of engineers, technicians, and operational staff, fostering a culture of safety, performance, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations relevant to the energy and mining sectors.
• Collaborate with procurement, finance, and other departments to manage budgets, capital expenditure, and resource allocation for energy systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Mining) or Operations Management. An MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is advantageous.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in operations management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the energy or mining industry .
• Proven expertise in managing complex energy systems, power generation, and distribution networks, preferably in a large industrial context.
• Strong understanding of operational efficiency, cost management, and safety compliance in high-risk environments.
• Excellent leadership, strategic planning, and stakeholder management skills.
