Placements24 invites a Senior Network Security Engineer to join our client in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga. You will design, implement, and maintain robust network security infrastructure, oversee incident response, and lead security initiatives.

The role requires 7+ years in network security, strong knowledge of firewalls (Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco ASA), IDS/IPS, and SIEM (Splunk, QRadar). Cloud security experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity or related field is required.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in network security engineering.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S and other network protocols.
• Hands-on firewall management with Palo Alto, Fortinet or Cisco ASA.
• Experience with IDS/IPS solutions and SIEM platforms (Splunk, QRadar).
• Proficiency with VPN technologies (IPsec, SSL VPN) and AAA concepts.
• Certifications such as CISSP, CCNP Security, GIAC are desirable.
• Cloud security experience (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage network security solutions including firewalls, VPNs, IDPS, and WAF.
• Develop and enforce network security policies, standards, and procedures.
• Monitor network traffic for security breaches and incidents; respond appropriately.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing.
• Configure and maintain network security devices and systems.
• Collaborate with IT teams to secure network infrastructure.
• Develop and deliver security awareness training.
• Lead security incident response activities and forensics as needed.
