Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Senior Project Manager to lead mining operations improvement initiatives near Rustenburg, North West. You will drive end-to-end delivery of complex projects focused on efficiency, technology integration, safety, and environmental compliance across mining facilities.

The role requires a degree in mining/mechanical/industrial engineering, 8+ years in project management with 5+ in mining or heavy industry, and a track record managing multi-million rand budgets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering or a related field.
• Advanced degree or PMP certification is highly desirable.
• 8+ years of project management experience, with at least 5 years in mining/heavy industry.

Responsibilities

• Define project scope, objectives and deliverables aligned with strategic goals.
• Develop detailed plans with timelines, budgets and risk assessments for mining operations.
• Manage project execution, monitoring progress, quality and budget adherence.
• Lead cross-functional teams of engineers, geologists, operations staff and contractors.
• Implement risk management to mitigate delivery issues and ensure continuity.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and mining regs in North West.
• Communicate with senior management, site personnel and suppliers.
• Oversee integration of new technologies and process improvements.
• Conduct post-project evaluations and capture lessons learned.
