Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mining Engineer for Mossel Bay with a strong focus on remote work. The role emphasizes mine design, planning, and feasibility studies to guide project development from concept through to decision points.

You will leverage advanced software for pit optimization and layout planning and collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure safe, compliant, and economically viable extraction strategies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in mine planning, design, and project development.
• Proficiency in state-of-the-art mine planning software and open-pit/underground methods.
• Excellent remote communication and report-writing abilities.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed mine design and planning, including pit optimization and production scheduling.
• Perform feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new mining projects.
• Develop operational plans ensuring safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance.
• Utilize Deswik, Vulcan, and Datamine for modeling and simulation.
• Collaborate with geologists, metallurgists, and environmental specialists to integrate project requirements.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for stakeholders.
