Job summary

Placements24 seeks a seasoned Lead Mining Engineer to join its international team, supporting operations near Rustenburg in a fully remote role. You will lead mine planning and optimization, drive safety, efficiency, and sustainability while mentoring staff from a distance.

You will oversee feasibility studies, design, and performance monitoring, collaborate with geologists and metallurgists, and manage technical risks to guide project execution globally.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering (required).
• Master's degree preferred for advanced leadership roles.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in open-pit and/or underground mining operations.
• Proficiency in mine planning software such as MineScape, Deswik, or similar.
• Strong understanding of mine economics, risk assessment, and project management.
• Demonstrated leadership experience and ability to manage teams remotely.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for virtual collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive mine planning and scheduling for various mining operations.
• Oversee feasibility studies, mine design, and operational performance monitoring.
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols and environmental regulations.
• Collaborate with operations managers, geologists, and metallurgists to optimize production.
• Lead and mentor a team of mining engineers and technical specialists remotely.
• Identify and implement innovative technologies and methodologies to enhance mining efficiency and reduce costs.
