Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Senior Mining Engineer focused on production to join our client’s Mahikeng operation in the North West. You will develop short-to-medium term production plans, lead mining crews, optimize equipment use, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

You will collaborate with planning, geology, and engineering teams to drive productivity and continuous improvement in a demanding mining environment in Mahikeng.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field.
• GCC is highly desirable for advancement.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in mining operations with a production focus.
• Experience in open-pit or underground mining operations per site requirements.
• Strong knowledge of mining methods, equipment, and best practices.
• Excellent leadership, team management, and decision-making abilities.
• Proficiency in mine planning and production management software.
• Solid understanding of health, safety, and environmental management in mining.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement short-to-medium term production plans for open-pit or underground mining operations.
• Supervise and manage mining crews, ensuring safe, efficient, and plan-driven work.
• Monitor daily production performance, identify deviations, and implement corrective actions.
• Oversee equipment utilization and maintenance, coordinating with maintenance teams.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental regulations and company policies.
• Collaborate with mine planning, geology, and engineering teams to integrate plans.
• Contribute to mine design and optimization based on performance data.
• Train and mentor junior engineers and supervisory staff.
• Prepare production reports, forecasts, and performance analyses for management.
