Placements24 is seeking an experienced Operations Director in Mahikeng, North West to lead extensive mining and processing operations. You will oversee all stages from extraction through processing, ensuring optimal production, cost control, and adherence to top safety and environmental standards.

The role requires a proven track record in mining operations management, exceptional leadership, and a commitment to sustainable and responsible mining practices.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 12 years of progressive mining operations experience with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role
• Experience managing surface and/or underground mining operations
• Strong knowledge of mining engineering, geology, and mineral processing
• Proven track record in HSE performance improvement
• Excellent leadership and change management skills
• Proficiency with mining software and operations systems
• Bachelor/Master degrees in relevant fields, with charter advantageous

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day mining operations including exploration, extraction, processing and logistics
• Develop and implement strategic operational plans to meet production targets
• Ensure adherence to HSE regulations and company policies
• Lead a large team of engineers, geologists, supervisors and staff
• Manage budgets, control costs and seek continuous improvement
• Oversee maintenance and readiness of mining equipment and plant machinery
• Coordinate with exploration, technical services and commercial teams
• Monitor KPIs and drive operational performance improvements
• Ensure compliance with mining legislation and industry best practices
