Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Project Manager specializing in mining construction for projects in Klerksdorp, North West, South Africa. You will lead complex mining construction programs from planning to handover, ensuring safety, budget control, and schedule adherence.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Engineering or Construction Management, 10+ years in project management with 5+ in mining construction, and strong leadership, communication, and risk management skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mining, Civil, Mechanical) or Construction Management.
• Professional registration (e.g., Pr Eng, Pr CPM) is highly desirable.
• A minimum of 10 years of proven experience in project management, with at least 5 years focused on large-scale mining construction projects.
• Demonstrated success in managing projects from inception through to completion in demanding environments.
• In-depth knowledge of mining operations, construction techniques, and relevant health and safety regulations (MHSA).
• Proficiency in project management software (MS Project, Primavera) and ERP systems.
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience managing large budgets and complex contractual agreements.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, execution, and closeout of complex mining construction projects, aligned with strategic objectives.
• Develop comprehensive project plans with scope, scheduling, resources and risk strategies.
• Manage project budgets, forecast expenditures, and ensure financial targets are met.
• Oversee procurement, contract negotiation and management with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations in mining operations.
• Lead and motivate multi-disciplinary project teams for high performance.
• Coordinate with internal operations, engineering, and executive teams and external regulators/communities.
• Monitor progress and proactively mitigate risks and issues.
• Implement QA/QC measures throughout the project lifecycle.
• Prepare and present project status reports to senior management.
