Job summary

Placements24 in South Africa seeks an experienced Mine Planner to contribute to short-term and long-term strategic planning for operations in Sandton. You will develop detailed production schedules and mine designs aligned with geological data and economic objectives, collaborating with geologists, engineers and operations teams to translate resource models into actionable plans.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years in mine planning for underground and open-pit operations.
• Proficiency in Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac or MineScape.
• Strong understanding of mine design, scheduling and cost estimation.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Pr.Eng. registration is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed short-term (daily, weekly, monthly) and long-term (annual, life-of-mine) mine plans.
• Create mine designs and layouts, including open pit shells or underground stope layouts, using specialized software.
• Optimize mining sequences, equipment utilization, and production rates to meet targets efficiently and safely.
• Collaborate with the geology department to integrate resource models into mine plans and reconciliations.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new mining areas or modifications.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for management and stakeholders.
