Job summary

Placements24 near Paarl is seeking an experienced Mine Planner to develop and optimize short-, medium-, and long-term open-pit mine plans. Translate geological models into practical designs while ensuring safety and environmental compliance.

You will collaborate with surveyors, engineers and geologists to create executable plans, with at least 5 years of experience and proficiency in major planning software.

Qualifications

• BSc or BEng in Mining Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years in mine planning, open pit focus.
• Experience with Whittle, Vulcan, Surpac or Deswik.
• Strong understanding of open pit mining methods and constraints.

Responsibilities

• Develop short-, medium-, and long-term mine plans for open pit operations.
• Optimize sequences, pit designs, and production schedules.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic analysis of scenarios.
• Integrate geological data, survey data, and equipment into plans.
• Ensure regulatory, safety, and environmental compliance.
• Produce reports and visualizations of mine plans.
