Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Metallurgist to optimize mineral processing and improve recovery while reducing costs. The role emphasizes remote collaboration with distributed teams across Centurion and other locations, leveraging advanced metallurgical principles and data analytics.

The candidate will lead process optimization efforts, develop new techniques, and report findings to stakeholders, staying current with mining technology advances.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in metallurgy, chemical engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years in mineral processing and metallurgy, with exposure to multiple commodities.
• Strong understanding of comminution, flotation, leaching, and related unit operations.
• Proficiency in metallurgical simulation software and data analysis tools.
• Excellent problem-solving and ability to work independently and remotely.
• Strong communication and teamwork in hybrid/remote settings.

Responsibilities

• Analyze metallurgical data to identify opportunities for process improvements, increased recovery, and cost reduction.
• Develop, test, and implement new processing techniques and technologies.
• Troubleshoot operational issues in mineral processing plants, providing expert metallurgical guidance remotely.
• Collaborate with plant operations teams, engineers, and R&D to implement process changes.
• Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, and present findings to stakeholders.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in metallurgical science and mining technology.
