Placements24 is seeking a Lead Metallurgist to join a globally distributed team, remotely from Cape Town, to optimize mineral processing operations and improve recovery rates across sites. The role requires an advanced degree and 10+ years in mineral processing, with leadership of metallurgical projects and proficiency in METSIM/JKSimMet.

You will mentor site teams and drive innovative techniques with cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of hands-on mineral processing experience and leadership of metallurgical projects.
• Strong knowledge of comminution, flotation, leaching, and refining circuits.
• Ability to run multi-site remote projects and influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Proficiency with METSIM and JKSimMet and data analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop and oversee optimized mineral processing flowsheets and methods.
• Conduct detailed metallurgical test work and pilot studies to evaluate new technologies and process improvements.
• Analyze plant data to identify bottlenecks and maximize metal recovery and efficiency.
