Key Responsibilities

• Design and analyze complex mechanical systems, sub-systems, and components for demanding industrial environments.
• Utilize advanced simulation tools (FEA, CFD) to predict performance, identify potential failure modes, and optimize designs.
• Develop detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and Bill of Materials (BOM) using CAD software.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical, software, and manufacturing engineers, to ensure integrated system solutions.
• Oversee the fabrication, assembly, and testing of prototypes and production units.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues encountered during development, testing, or field deployment.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant engineering field.
• Minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in mechanical design and systems engineering, preferably within the mining or heavy industrial equipment sector.
• Advanced proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor) and simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, ABAQUS, COMSOL).
• Solid understanding of materials science, mechanics of solids, dynamics, and thermodynamics.
• Proven experience in designing components subject to high stress, wear, and harsh environmental conditions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a meticulous approach to design verification.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly.
• Experience with project management principles is advantageous.
• Knowledge of relevant industry standards (e.g., ISO, SANS) is a plus.
