Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 6+ years of mechanical design experience in heavy machinery.
• Proficient in CAD and FEA tools with strong analysis skills.

• Ability to manage complex design projects from concept to completion.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and modify mechanical systems and components for heavy-duty mining equipment using advanced CAD software.
• Conduct rigorous stress analysis, fatigue analysis, and reliability assessments to ensure equipment longevity and safety.
• Collaborate with the R&D team to identify opportunities for innovation and performance improvement in existing and new product lines.
• Work closely with manufacturing and quality control teams to ensure designs are optimized for production and meet stringent quality standards.
• Develop detailed technical documentation, including engineering drawings, BOMs, and assembly instructions.
• Provide technical support during the assembly, testing, and commissioning phases of new equipment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
• A minimum of 6 years of professional experience in mechanical design, with a focus on heavy machinery or industrial equipment.
• Expertise in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD Mechanical) and simulation tools (FEA).
• Strong understanding of mechanical principles, including kinematics, dynamics, material science, and fatigue analysis.
• Experience with mining equipment or similar heavy industries is highly preferred.
• Proven ability to manage complex design projects from concept through to completion.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with various stakeholders.
• Must hold valid work authorization for South Africa.
