Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in manufacturing processes to join our client in Stellenbosch, Western Cape. You will optimize production, improve quality, and lead the adoption of new technologies on state-of-the-art equipment.

The role requires a deep understanding of mechanical principles in manufacturing, with proven problem-solving, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in mechanical engineering with focus on manufacturing processes.
• Experience with process optimization, automation, and new equipment implementation.
• Proficiency in CAD for designing jigs, fixtures, and tooling.
• Strong understanding of materials, machining, and assembly techniques.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and optimize existing manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
• Design, develop, and implement new manufacturing equipment and tooling solutions.
• Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for new manufacturing technologies.
• Collaborate with production teams, quality control, and R&D to address manufacturing challenges.
• Develop and maintain detailed process documentation, including SOPs and machine specs.
• Oversee installation, commissioning, and validation of new production machinery.
• Implement Lean and Six Sigma to drive continuous improvement.
• Provide technical support and training to operators and maintenance personnel.
• Ensure all processes comply with safety regulations and standards.
• Evaluate materials and manufacturing techniques for new product introductions.
