Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to spearhead product development in Randburg. You will lead the full lifecycle from ideation and prototyping to testing, manufacturing, and release, in a hybrid setup that blends remote planning with on-site collaboration.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years in mechanical product development, consumer or industrial goods.
• Strong CAD/CAE experience with SolidWorks or Fusion 360.
• Knowledge of materials science, manufacturing processes and DFM.
• Proven leadership, project management, and communication skills.
• Ability to innovate and solve complex engineering problems.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design and development of new products meeting performance, cost, and market requirements.
• Use CAD/CAE tools for design, simulation (FEA, CFD), and optimization.
• Create detailed product documentation including drawings, BOMs, and assembly instructions.
• Collaborate with R&D, marketing, manufacturing, and QA throughout development.
• Manage timelines, resources, and budgets for mechanical activities.
• Test and validate prototypes for reliability, safety, and performance.
