Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a fully remote product development team supporting operations based in Port Elizabeth. You will lead design from concept through prototyping, applying your expertise in mechanical design, materials, and manufacturing processes to deliver robust, customer-focused solutions.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 6+ years of experience in mechanical product design and development.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks or Inventor; basic FEA.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design of new products from concept to prototyping and detailed design.
• Conduct feasibility studies, material selection, and performance analysis for new concepts.
• Develop and refine CAD models and engineering drawings for manufacturing and assembly.
• Collaborate with cross-functional remote teams including industrial designers, electrical engineers, and software developers.
• Oversee product testing and validation to ensure performance and quality standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical design issues throughout the product development cycle.
