Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Benoni to lead end-to-end product development from concept to production readiness. You will design with 3D CAD, perform FEA/CFD analyses, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturability and performance.

The role requires a strong plastics/materials background, rapid prototyping experience, and excellent communication skills to drive innovative solutions within a hybrid work setup.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on mechanical design and development experience.
• Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Fusion 360) and FEA/CFD tools.
• Solid understanding of materials science, plastics, and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design process for new product development, from concept generation to detailed design.
• Utilize 3D CAD software to create intricate designs, assemblies, and detailed manufacturing drawings.
• Conduct FEA and CFD analysis to optimize product performance, durability, and thermal management.
• Collaborate with industrial designers, electrical engineers, and manufacturing teams to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability.
• Develop prototypes, conduct rigorous testing, and iterate on designs based on test results and feedback.
• Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs) and technical documentation for production.
