Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a remote-first, globally distributed team focused on advanced automation equipment, robotics, and integrated systems. You will lead concept development through detailed design, prototyping support, and manufacturing handover, ensuring performance and reliability.

Applicants should have a Master's in Mechanical Engineering, 7+ years of automation-focused design experience, expert CAD (SolidWorks or Inventor), and strong FEA/CFD

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
• 7+ years of experience in mechanical design with automation equipment/robotics.
• Expert proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor) and PDM/PLM systems.
• Advanced knowledge of engineering analysis tools (FEA, CFD, motion simulation).
• Deep understanding of automation principles, including kinematics, dynamics, and control integration.
• Experience with various manufacturing processes (machining, fabrication, additive manufacturing).
• Excellent remote communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design of complex automation equipment from concept to production readiness.
• Develop detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, and BOMs.
• Perform FEA/CFD and motion analyses to validate designs.
• Specify motors, gearboxes, bearings, sensors, and actuators.
• Collaborate with electrical, software, and controls teams for integrated systems.
• Mentor engineers and document designs for manufacturing and service.
