Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Mechanical Design Specialist in Soweto to contribute to manufacturing and product development. You will produce detailed 2D/3D designs, develop drawings and BOMs, and support prototyping to ensure production-ready, cost-effective solutions.

The role requires a Diploma or Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering and at least six years of design experience with CAD tools such as Inventor or CATIA, with understanding of machining, casting and molding.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in mechanical design and drafting.
• Proficiency in CAD software (Inventor, CATIA, or similar).
• Understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, casting, and injection molding.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed 2D and 3D designs for mechanical parts, assemblies, and equipment using CAD software.
• Develop manufacturing drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Perform basic stress and thermal analysis on design components.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are production-ready and cost-effective.
• Assist in the prototyping and testing phases of new designs.
