Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a proactive Mechanical Engineer in Benoni (Gauteng) to join our client’s design and development team. You will drive the full product lifecycle from concept to prototyping and testing, delivering innovative mechanical solutions for manufacturing and client specs.

The ideal candidate has 4–6 years of hands-on experience in mechanical design, solid CAD skills (SolidWorks, Inventor), and a strong grasp of materials and manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 4–6 years of experience in mechanical product design and development.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks and Inventor; familiarity with simulation tools.
• Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and mechanical testing methods.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; good communication for teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop new mechanical products and systems for performance and manufacturability.
• Create detailed 3D models, drawings, and specifications using CAD.
• Conduct performance analysis and simulations to validate designs.
• Collaborate with production and quality control during product development.
• Build and test prototypes, document results, and modify designs as needed.
• Research and implement new materials and technologies to enhance capabilities.
