Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Design Technician to translate conceptual designs into precise drawings and models in Paarl. You will support CAD operations, documentation, and prototype prep within a hybrid work environment.

The role requires a National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology and at least 3 years of CAD experience, with SolidWorks or Inventor proficiency and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience as a CAD Technician or Mechanical Designer preferred.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software and 2D drafting is required.
• Detail-oriented with strong accuracy and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD models and drawings from sketches and specs.
• Assist engineers with basic design calculations and analyses.
• Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs) and production documentation.
• Support fabrication and assembly of prototypes and test fixtures.
• Maintain and organize design files and engineering databases.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure correct design implementation.
