Job summary

Placements24 in Soweto is seeking a meticulous Mechanical Draughtsperson to translate engineering concepts into precise 2D and 3D drawings for manufacturing and construction, using CAD tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks or Inventor.

You will collaborate with mechanical engineers to review designs, ensure GD&T and industry standards compliance, and prepare BOMs and technical documents while maintaining tidy archives and revision control.

Qualifications

National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or CAD drafting certification.
Proven experience as a Mechanical Draughtsperson or similar role.
Solid understanding of drafting conventions and GD&T.

Responsibilities

Create detailed 2D and 3D drawings, plans, and schematics for mechanical components and systems using CAD software.
Ensure all drawings adhere to relevant industry standards, company specifications, and GD&T requirements.
Collaborate with mechanical engineers to review and refine designs, ensuring technical accuracy and completeness.
Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs) and other necessary documentation for manufacturing and procurement.
Maintain and organize drawing archives, ensuring revisions and updates are managed effectively.
Assist in the preparation of technical documentation for project proposals and reports.
