Placements24 is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to contribute to product development in the consumer electronics sector, based in Soweto. This hybrid role covers mechanical design, prototyping, testing, and refinement of innovative devices, collaborating with cross-functional teams.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and 3+ years of experience in mechanical design, with proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks or Fusion 360).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of mechanical design experience, preferably in consumer electronics.
• Proficient in 3D CAD software and 2D drafting principles.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and enclosures for consumer electronic devices using CAD software.
• Create 3D models, 2D drawings, and detailed specifications for manufacturing.
• Collaborate with industrial designers to meet aesthetic and mechanical requirements.
• Perform tolerance analysis and DFM reviews to ensure efficient production.
• Build and test prototypes, troubleshoot issues, and iterate designs based on test results.
• Collaborate with supply chain and manufacturing partners to ensure successful product launches.
