Job summary

Placements24 in Port Elizabeth is seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to design automotive components and subsystems. You will work hands-on with CAD tools and collaborate with a dedicated engineering team to bring new vehicle concepts to life.

The ideal candidate has a minimum of 5 years in mechanical design within the automotive sector, strong CAD proficiency, and a solid understanding of manufacturing processes and materials. This is a dynamic, fast-paced role in Port Elizabeth.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Minimum 5 years in mechanical design within the automotive industry.
Proficient in SolidWorks, CATIA or similar CAD tools.
Solid understanding of automotive components, manufacturing processes and materials.
Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).

Responsibilities

Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for automotive applications using advanced CAD tools.
Create detailed drawings, 3D models, and BOMs ensuring Manufacturability and specifications.
Conduct feasibility studies, performance simulations, and validation testing to meet automotive standards.
Collaborate with suppliers, manufacturing teams and other engineers to resolve design challenges.
Participate in design reviews and align with project objectives and timelines.
Stay informed about emerging automotive technologies and best practices.
