Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Automotive Mechanical Engineer in Paarl to design, develop and test mechanical systems for next‑generation vehicles. You will work from concept to production on powertrain, chassis and thermal management projects.

The ideal candidate has a BEng in Mechanical Engineering, 3–5 years automotive design experience, proficiency in CATIA/SolidWorks and CAE tools, and strong problem‑solving skills in a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3-5 years of automotive mechanical design and development experience.
• Proficiency in CATIA/SolidWorks and CAE tools.
• Understanding of automotive systems, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with testing and validation of automotive components.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and validate mechanical components and systems for automotive applications (e.g., powertrain, chassis, thermal management).
• Conduct performance simulations, stress analysis, and durability testing.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including electrical, software, and manufacturing engineers.
• Create detailed CAD models, drawings, and specifications for vehicle components.
• Support vehicle prototype builds and production launch activities.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement design improvements throughout the product lifecycle.
