Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our client’s team in Midrand. You will lead the design and development of advanced automotive mechanical systems, driving innovation and ensuring performance, safety, and efficiency across projects.

You will mentor engineers, manage design activities, run CAD/FEA analyses, coordinate prototyping and testing, and prepare detailed documentation. The role requires a Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical Engineering and at least 7 years of

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in mechanical design with a strong automotive focus.
Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and finite element analysis (FEA) tools.
Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and automotive standards.
Experience leading technical teams and project management.
Excellent problem-solving and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Lead design and development of complex mechanical systems and components for automotive applications using CAD.
Conduct stress and thermal analyses to validate designs and ensure performance.
Oversee prototyping and testing, troubleshoot issues, and iterate designs.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical designs seamlessly.
Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on design best practices.
Prepare detailed design documentation, test reports, and manufacturing instructions.
