Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer in Cape Town to drive innovation in automotive systems within our client's R&D division. You will guide a team of engineers, shape project lifecycles, and deliver high-performance vehicle components that meet rigorous standards.
The role requires a Master's in Mechanical Engineering, 10+ years in automotive design, and a proven track record in leading complex projects.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
- 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience with a focus on automotive systems design.
- Proven track record of leading engineering teams and managing complex projects from inception to completion.
- Deep understanding of automotive components, materials, and manufacturing processes including NVH and aerodynamics.
- Proficiency in advanced CAD/CAE tools and simulation software relevant to automotive industry.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to inspire a technical team.
Responsibilities
- Lead design, development, and testing of novel automotive mechanical systems, ensuring functionality and manufacturability.
- Mentor and manage a team of mechanical engineers, fostering collaboration and technical rigor.
- Oversee project planning, resource allocation, and timelines for automotive projects.
- Develop and implement rigorous testing procedures and validation protocols for critical components.
- Collaborate with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to define specifications and ensure project success.
- Analyze performance data and feedback to drive continuous improvement in design and processes.
