Placements24 is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to design, develop and refine machinery used in manufacturing and processing industries in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. You will contribute to robust, efficient equipment through creative design and practical engineering within a collaborative hub in the Eastern Cape.

The role requires 3–5 years of experience and a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, with proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks, Inventor) and familiarity with FEA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years in industrial equipment design.
• Proficient in CAD (SolidWorks, Inventor) and familiar with FEA.
• Strong understanding of materials and manufacturing.
• Excellent communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop new industrial machinery from concept to specs using CAD.
• Create 3D models, drawings, and BOMs for manufacturing.
• Perform mechanical calculations and simulations (stress, kinematics).
• Collaborate with electrical, automation, and production teams.
• Conduct site visits or client consultations as needed.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and cost reduction.
