Job summary

ECN in South Africa seeks a Senior Artisan to support engineering and production through manufacture, modification, repair, and assembly of mechanical components and prototype equipment in a high-performance defence environment.

You will operate and maintain workshop machinery, read engineering drawings, and provide technical support to engineers during concept development and prototyping while ensuring safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience in machining or mechanical workshop.
• Minimum 6 years' experience in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years' experience as a Fitter and Turner.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Support engineering and production through manufacture, modification, repair, and assembly of mechanical components.
• Operate workshop machinery and maintain tooling and equipment.
• Provide technical support to engineers during prototyping and rework.
• Set up tools and machine tools, read drawings, verify dimensions and tolerances.
• Maintain safe, clean work environment and uphold quality standards.
