Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the development of specialised equipment in Kimberley, Northern Cape. You will own the design lifecycle from concept through prototyping and testing, delivering high-performance machinery for demanding applications.

You will apply advanced CAD/CAE tools, perform stress, thermal and vibration analyses, collaborate with manufacturing and R&D, and mentor junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• At least 9 years of hands-on experience designing specialised mechanical systems or equipment.
• Proficiency with CAD/CAE software and simulation tools for complex analyses.
• Strong knowledge of advanced materials and precision manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of specialised mechanical equipment from concept to production readiness.
• Perform stress, strain, vibration, and thermal analyses.
• Create detailed mechanical designs, drawings, and specifications using CAD.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, R&D, and operational teams for feasibility and implementation.
• Oversee prototype development, testing, and validation of new designs.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical design challenges in development or the field.
