Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer for our client in Benoni, Gauteng. The role focuses on driving process improvements, optimizing production workflows, and ensuring quality and efficiency across manufacturing operations.

You will lead lean initiatives, collaborate with R&D and quality teams, and develop new manufacturing processes. A strong CAD/simulation toolset, ISO 9001 knowledge, and 6+ years of experience are required. Hybrid on-site/off-site work is offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of manufacturing engineering experience focused on process improvement.
• Proven experience with lean manufacturing tools and methodologies.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and project management skills.
• Experience with automation/robotics is an advantage.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems.
• Ability to work on-site in Benoni with hybrid arrangements.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Analyze current manufacturing processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement.
• Design, develop, and implement new manufacturing processes and technologies to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
• Apply lean manufacturing principles (e.g., Kaizen, 5S, Value Stream Mapping) to optimize workflows and eliminate waste.
• Lead cross-functional teams in problem-solving initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
• Develop and maintain detailed process documentation, including SOPs and work instructions.
• Collaborate with the R&D and engineering departments on new product introductions (NPI) to ensure manufacturability.
• Troubleshoot production issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement effective corrective actions.
• Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for manufacturing processes.
• Train production personnel on new processes and equipment.
• Ensure adherence to quality standards and regulatory requirements within the manufacturing environment.
