Job summary

Placements24 in Rustenburg is recruiting a Lead Electrical Engineer to drive electrical infrastructure projects for a major mining operation. You will oversee design, installation, and maintenance of high-voltage distribution, motor control centers, and protection systems, while mentoring a team of engineers and technicians.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with specialization in Power Systems or Industrial Applications.
• 10+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Proven expertise in mining electrical infrastructure, including VFDs, switchgear, and protection systems.
• Strong understanding of industrial automation and control systems for mining processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and execution of electrical strategies for large-scale mining operations.
• Oversee planning, installation, and commissioning of HV power distribution systems, substations, and MCCs.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for electrical equipment to maximise uptime.
• Manage budgets, project schedules, and resource allocation for capital and OPEX.
• Ensure adherence to safety regulations, environmental standards, and industry best practices.
• Mentor and develop a team of electrical engineers and technicians.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate electrical systems across disciplines.
