Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Senior Electrical Engineer with a mining and heavy industry background to join our client in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. The role focuses on designing, implementing and maintaining electrical systems for large-scale facilities, with emphasis on safety, reliability and uptime.

You will lead engineering teams, specify and oversee high- and low-voltage installations, and drive preventative maintenance programs.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
Minimum 8 years of relevant mining/heavy industrial experience.
Strong knowledge of power distribution, motor control, VFDs, and PLC systems in harsh environments.
Experience in safety regulations for mining/industrial operations.
Proven ability to manage complex projects and lead technical teams.

Responsibilities

Design and specify electrical systems for mining equipment and heavy industry facilities.
Oversee installation, commissioning and maintenance of high- and low-voltage systems.
Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to minimise downtime.
Conduct electrical hazard analyses and implement safety measures.
Manage project budgets, schedules and contractor performance for capital projects.
