Placements24 is seeking a Senior IT Support Specialist to bolster operations in Polokwane, Limpopo. You will deliver high-level technical support, manage IT infrastructure, and mentor junior staff while ensuring secure, compliant IT operations.

The role requires 6+ years in IT support or administration, strong knowledge of Windows Server and Linux, virtualization, and network security. A hybrid work model in the Limpopo region is offered, with opportunities to lead IT initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in IT support, system administration, or a similar role.
• In-depth knowledge of operating systems (Windows Server, Linux), network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), and virtualisation technologies.
• Proven experience with network security, firewalls, and VPNs.
• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong leadership and communication abilities, with the capacity to mentor junior team members.
• Experience managing IT projects and implementing new technologies.
• Relevant IT certifications (e.g., MCSE, CCNA, CompTIA Security+) are highly desirable.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid model, balancing remote and in-office responsibilities in the Limpopo area.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level technical support for hardware, software, and network infrastructure.
• Diagnose and resolve complex IT issues, ensuring minimal downtime for end-users.
• Manage, maintain, and upgrade IT systems, including servers, workstations, and network devices.
• Develop and implement IT policies and procedures to enhance security and efficiency.
• Oversee user account management and access control.
• Mentor and guide junior IT support staff, providing training and technical expertise.
• Conduct regular system audits and performance analysis, recommending improvements.
• Manage IT procurement, inventory, and vendor relationships.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive IT documentation, including network diagrams and support guides.
