Placements24 is seeking a Senior Risk Manager to lead the insurance portfolio risk function from Pretoria, operating remotely across SA. You will design and implement ERM frameworks, monitor KRIs, and drive risk culture at senior levels.

Ideal candidates hold a Master’s degree in a quantitative field, 6+ years in risk management within financial services, and advanced analytics skills. PRM/FRM/CFA are desirable; strong communication and remote-working prowess are essential.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Risk Management, Statistics, or related field.
• Minimum 6 years of risk management experience in financial services or insurance.
• Proven ERM framework and risk policy implementation experience.
• Strong knowledge of insurance products, operations, and regulatory requirements.
• Advanced analytical and quantitative skills; proficiency in risk modeling.
• Proficient in risk management software and tools.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder influence skills.
• Ability to work remotely with multiple priorities.
• PRM/FRM/CFA certifications are highly desirable.
• Experience with Gauteng regulatory landscape is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain the enterprise risk management framework for insurance portfolios.
• Identify, assess and quantify risks across operational, market, credit and strategic domains.
• Design and execute risk mitigation strategies and action plans.
• Develop and monitor KRIs and risk metrics; report findings to senior management.
• Conduct regular risk assessments and stress testing of portfolios and processes.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations governing risk management in financial services.
• Collaborate with internal audit, compliance and business units to promote risk culture.
• Provide expert risk guidance to leaders and decision-makers.
• Manage relationships with external auditors, regulators and rating agencies.
• Stay informed about emerging risks and best practices in risk management for the Pretoria context.
