Job summary

Placements24 in Gauteng is seeking a Senior Sound Designer to join our dynamic team in Tembisa. You will craft high-fidelity sound effects, ambient layers, and audio feedback to elevate immersive interactive experiences.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in game audio, expertise with Pro Tools, Reaper, or Ableton, and experience with Unreal Engine or Unity plus Wwise/FMOD. You will design, implement, and master diverse audio assets and contribute to sonic storytelling across projects.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in sound design for games or interactive media.
• Proficient with DAWs such as Pro Tools, Reaper, or Ableton Live.
• Experience with Unreal Engine or Unity and audio middleware (Wwise, FMOD).
• Strong portfolio across environmental audio, UI sounds, and effects.
• Solid understanding of acoustics and audio mixing.

Responsibilities

• Design, create, and implement a wide range of sound effects, Foley, and ambient soundscapes.
• Integrate sound assets into game engines using industry-standard workflows.
• Collaborate with audio director, composers, and designers for sonic consistency.
• Develop and manage audio asset libraries for efficient retrieval.
• Record and edit voiceovers and character vocalizations as needed.
• Troubleshoot audio technical issues during development.
• Stay updated with trends in game audio and sound design.
• Contribute to overall audio direction and QA processes.
