Placements24 in Rustenburg, North West, ZA, seeks a Senior Sound Designer & Composer to shape immersive audio for interactive projects. Work across pre-production to release with a focus on high-quality sound effects and original scores.

You will implement audio within Unreal/Unity pipelines, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and mentor junior members in a creative, hybrid work setting.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Sound Designer and Composer with a portfolio.
• Proficiency in DAWs such as Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Cubase, or Ableton Live.
• Experience with audio middleware like Wwise or FMOD.
• Strong understanding of audio principles, acoustics, and psychoacoustics.
• Excellent musical composition skills, including orchestration and arrangement.
• Familiarity with game development pipelines and engine integration (Unreal/Unity).

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and mix sound effects for in-game events, environments, and UI.
• Compose original scores to evoke moods and support gameplay narrative.
• Record, edit, and process audio assets to ensure quality.
• Develop and maintain sound libraries and music assets.
• Integrate audio assets into the game engine using industry tools (Wwise/FMOD).
• Collaborate with designers, artists, and programmers to align audio with visuals.
• Troubleshoot audio bugs during development and post-launch.
• Provide mentorship to junior audio team members.
