Placements24 is seeking a Water Resources Engineer to join a public sector consulting team in Pretoria, South Africa. You will plan, design and manage water and wastewater infrastructure for municipal clients, emphasizing sustainable supply, treatment, and reuse.

The ideal candidate has a strong hydraulics/hydrology background, PrEng registration with ECSA, and proficiency with EPANET/SWMM and GIS. A commitment to public service and community development is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering with a specialization in Water Resources.
• 7+ years of professional experience in water resources engineering, municipal infrastructure.
• PrEng registration with ECSA is required.
• Proficiency in hydraulic modeling software (EPANET, SWMM) and GIS.
• Strong knowledge of water quality, treatment processes and SA regulations.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop systems for water supply, distribution, wastewater collection, and treatment.
• Conduct hydrological studies, hydraulic modeling, and flood risk assessments for urban and rural catchments.
• Prepare feasibility studies, environmental impact assessments, and technical reports for water infrastructure projects.
• Collaborate with municipal authorities, regulatory agencies, and other consultants to ensure project compliance and success.
• Oversee the construction and commissioning of water and wastewater treatment plants and associated infrastructure.
• Develop strategies for water conservation, reuse, and sustainable management of water resources.
