Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer specializing in HVAC for our client in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga. You will lead the design, optimization, and implementation of complex HVAC systems for industrial and commercial facilities, ensuring energy efficiency and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• At least 5 years of HVAC design/engineering experience.
• Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit MEP) and HVAC analysis tools.
• Energy modeling experience is highly desirable; familiarity with eQUEST or EnergyPlus is a plus.
• Understanding of building codes and industry standards; strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng) registration with ECSA is advantageous; relocation to Nelspruit, Mpumalanga as required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design of HVAC systems for industrial and commercial facilities, including load calculations and equipment selection.
• Develop HVAC layouts, schematics, and specifications using AutoCAD and Revit MEP.
• Conduct energy modeling and simulations to optimize performance and reduce costs.
• Ensure compliance with building codes and standards (SANS, ASHRAE) and environmental regulations.
• Oversee installation, commissioning, and testing to verify design intent.
• Troubleshoot HVAC issues during project execution and operation.
• Collaborate with architects, electrical engineers, and project managers for integrated solutions.
• Prepare technical reports, cost estimates, and project documentation.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on HVAC best practices.
• Stay updated with advancements in HVAC technology, energy efficiency, and sustainable design.
