Placements24 in Kimberley, Northern Cape, seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer specialising in HVAC design to lead the system design, specification and project management for commercial, institutional and industrial buildings.

You will mentor junior engineers, ensure compliance with SANS and energy regulations, and collaborate with clients, architects, and project teams to deliver high‑quality, energy‑efficient building services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Professional registration with ECSA as Pr.Eng or eligible to register.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in mechanical engineering with a focus on HVAC design.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of HVAC systems for various building types.
• Perform load calculations, system sizing, and equipment selection.
• Prepare detailed HVAC design drawings, specifications, and schedules using CAD.
• Ensure designs comply with building codes, standards (e.g., SANS), and energy efficiency regulations.
• Manage HVAC project tasks, budgets, and timelines effectively.
• Liaise with clients, architects, project managers, and other engineering disciplines.
• Mentor and guide junior mechanical engineers and technicians in HVAC design.
• Stay updated on the latest HVAC technologies and best practices.
