Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer to spearhead the HVAC Systems division in Centurion, Gauteng. You will lead a team of mechanical engineers, drive innovative, energy-efficient HVAC solutions, and ensure adherence to building codes and regulatory standards.

You will mentor staff, coordinate with architects and clients, and oversee design, calculations, and commissioning for complex building projects.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with HVAC or Building Services specialization.
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in HVAC design and project management in the building industry.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng) registration with ECSA or equivalent desirable.
• Proven leadership of engineering teams and multi-project delivery.
• Expertise in HVAC design software (Revit MEP, AutoCAD MEP, HAP) and energy simulation tools.
• Strong knowledge of building codes, ASHRAE standards, and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and engineering of HVAC systems for diverse building projects, ensuring optimal performance and energy efficiency.
• Manage and mentor a team of mechanical engineers, providing technical guidance and fostering professional development.
• Develop project specifications, detailed drawings, and calculations for HVAC systems using industry-standard software.
• Conduct thorough site assessments and feasibility studies to inform design decisions.
• Oversee the installation and commissioning of HVAC systems, ensuring compliance with design specifications and codes.
• Collaborate with clients, architects, and contractors to ensure seamless project integration and client satisfaction.
• Perform energy modeling and analysis to identify opportunities for system optimization and sustainability improvements.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant building codes, standards, and environmental regulations.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and project documentation.
• Stay current with advancements in HVAC technology and sustainable building practices.
