Placements24 is seeking an experienced HSE Manager to lead health, safety and environmental programs for oil and gas operations, in a fully remote role with oversight of South African sites.

You will develop policies, conduct audits, investigate incidents, and deliver HSE training while promoting a proactive safety culture.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years in HSE within oil and gas, with knowledge of OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in OHS, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in HSE management within oil and gas.
• Knowledge of OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001 and other international standards.
• Experience with risk assessment, incident investigation, and emergency response planning.

About the Role

This critical role ensures the highest standards of safety are maintained across all projects and operational sites. You will be responsible for developing policies, conducting audits, and fostering a strong safety culture. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere while making a significant impact on safety performance within the South African energy sector .

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage the company's Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) management system
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with regulations and company policies.
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Develop and deliver HSE training programs to employees and contractors.
• Promote a proactive safety culture through engagement and communication initiatives.
• Ensure environmental compliance and manage waste disposal and emissions reporting.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in HSE management within the oil and gas industry.
• In-depth knowledge of relevant HSE legislation and international standards (e.g., OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001).
