Senior HR, Payroll & Administration Officer

Agricultural / Meat-Processing Environment

Location: Farm-based position near Hermon, Western Cape (Farm Vorentoe area)

IMPORTANT: Applicants must reside within 20 km driving distance of the workplace. This is a permanent, fully on-site position with no hybrid or remote-working option.

Salary: R30,000 - R35,000 per month
Employment: Permanent, full-time

Introduction

An established agricultural and food-production business is seeking a highly capable, hands-on Senior HR, Payroll & Administration Officer to join its operations near Hermon.

We are looking for someone with a strong personality, exceptional administrative abilities and a genuine can-do attitude.

This is not a position for someone who prefers a structured corporate environment where responsibilities are passed between departments. The successful candidate must be willing to roll up their sleeves, take ownership, solve problems and get things done.

The workplace is situated on a working farm with a busy production environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

Human Resources & Employee Relations

• Independently manage day-to-day HR administration and employee matters.
• Handle employee contracts, onboarding, terminations and personnel records.
• Support disciplinary processes, grievances and employee relations.
• Manage absenteeism, leave administration and employee documentation.
• Work closely with operational managers, supervisors and employees.
• Ensure compliance with relevant labour legislation and company procedures.

Payroll Management

• Manage accurate end-to-end payroll using Sage VIP / Sage 300 People.
• Process wages, salaries, overtime, shifts, allowances and deductions.
• Verify time-and-attendance information and payroll inputs.
• Complete payroll reconciliations and statutory submissions.
• Resolve payroll queries promptly and professionally.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and meet payroll deadlines.

Administration & Operational Support

• Maintain exceptionally accurate employee records and filing systems.
• Manage documentation, spreadsheets, registers and reports.
• Follow up on outstanding information without being reminded.
• Identify and resolve administrative discrepancies.
• Keep records organised, complete and audit-ready.
• Support operational management with day-to-day administrative requirements.
• Prioritise multiple tasks and take ownership of deadlines.

Non-Negotiable Requirements

Advantageous Experience

Previous experience in agriculture, abattoirs, meat processing, food production or labour-intensive manufacturing.

A relevant HR qualification is advantageous.
