The role requires knowledge of SA labour laws (BCEA, LRA, EEA, SDA), strong interpersonal skills, and hands-on organizational ability to maintain compliant, productive farm operations. A valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client, a substantial agricultural enterprise with operations in the peri-urban and surrounding rural areas of Randburg , is seeking a proactive and organized Farm Labour Manager. This role is essential for ensuring the efficient and effective management of the agricultural workforce across various farm sites. The successful candidate will be responsible for recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, supervision, and performance management of seasonal and permanent farm workers. A deep understanding of labour laws, HR best practices within the agricultural sector, and strong interpersonal skills are critical. You will play a key role in fostering a productive, safe, and compliant working environment for all employees. This position requires a hands‑on approach and excellent organizational capabilities to manage the workforce effectively in the diverse agricultural landscapes near Randburg .

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the recruitment and selection process for all farm labourers, ensuring compliance with employment equity.
• Manage the onboarding and induction process for new employees.
• Develop and maintain accurate employee records, including contracts, working hours, and payroll information.
• Create and manage work rotas and schedules to ensure adequate staffing for all farm operations.
• Supervise farm labourers on a daily basis, providing clear instructions and guidance.
• Monitor employee performance, conduct appraisals, and address any disciplinary issues promptly and fairly.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant labour legislation, health and safety regulations, and company policies in Randburg .
• Implement and promote health and safety training programs for all farm workers.
• Manage accommodation and welfare facilities for farm workers where applicable.
• Liaise with farm managers and supervisors to identify labour needs and challenges.
• Foster a positive and productive work environment.

Requirements

• A relevant qualification in Human Resources Management, Industrial Psychology, or a related field is advantageous.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in labour management, preferably within the agricultural sector.
• Strong knowledge of South African labour laws (BCEA, LRA, EEA, SDA).
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to manage and motivate a diverse workforce.
• Strong organizational and administrative skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite and HR/payroll systems.
• Ability to work under pressure and handle conflict resolution effectively.
• Willingness to travel to various farm sites around Randburg .
• Valid driver's license.
