About the Role

Our client, a major player in the retail sector, is seeking an experienced Senior HR Manager with a strong focus on Employee Relations to lead their HR function in Polokwane, Limpopo . This senior role requires a strategic thinker and adept communicator capable of fostering positive employee relations, managing complex grievances, and ensuring a fair and equitable workplace environment. The Senior HR Manager will work closely with senior leadership to develop and implement ER strategies that support business objectives and minimize risk. This is a critical on-site role requiring dedicated presence in our Polokwane offices.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive employee relations strategies and policies.
• Manage and resolve complex employee grievances, disciplinary actions, and disputes.
• Conduct thorough investigations into employee complaints and allegations.
• Provide expert advice and guidance to management on employee relations matters.
• Ensure compliance with all South African labor laws and regulations related to employment.
• Promote a positive and constructive workplace culture through proactive engagement and communication.
• Develop and deliver training programs for managers on ER best practices, conflict resolution, and disciplinary procedures.
• Partner with legal counsel on complex ER cases and potential litigation.
• Analyze ER trends and metrics to identify areas for intervention and improvement.
• Contribute to overall HR strategy development and implementation.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Psychology, Law, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years specializing in Employee Relations management.
• Proven track record of successfully managing complex ER issues and leading investigations.
• Deep understanding of South African labor law and industrial relations.
• Exceptional negotiation, mediation, and conflict resolution skills.
• Strong leadership and influencing abilities, with the capacity to build trust at all levels.
• Excellent communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills.
• Experience in the retail sector is highly desirable.
