Placements24 is recruiting a Senior Health and Safety Manager in Benoni, Gauteng. The role oversees safety strategy, audits, incident investigations, and training across mining operations, ensuring compliance with Mine Health and Safety Act and ISO 45001.

The ideal candidate will have 8+ years in H&S leadership within mining, strong leadership and communication skills, and willingness to travel with hybrid work options from Benoni. A master’s degree is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
• Master’s degree is advantageous for the role.
• Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a health and safety leadership role in the mining sector.
• Proven track record in developing and implementing effective safety management systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage H&S strategy across mining operations.
• Lead audits, investigations, and root cause analysis to drive improvements.
• Deliver H&S training across all staff levels.
• Ensure compliance with South African mining health and safety legislation and industry standards.
• Promote proactive safety culture through leadership and engagement.
