Job summary

Placements24, on behalf of our client, seeks a proactive Mining Health and Safety Officer to oversee safety at a mine site near Bloemfontein. You will implement the Health and Safety Management System, conduct inspections, investigate incidents, and promote a strong safety culture among employees and contractors.

The role requires a National Diploma in Safety Management, at least four years in mining HSE, and registration with a professional body such as SAIOSH.

Qualifications

• National Diploma in Safety Management or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in a Health and Safety role within the mining industry.
• Registered with a relevant professional body (e.g., SAIOSH).

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain the site's Health and Safety Management System.
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near misses, providing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions.
• Deliver safety training and toolbox talks to all levels of site personnel.
• Ensure that all safety equipment is available, maintained, and used correctly by employees.
