Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Lead Grid Integration Engineer in Centurion, Gauteng to oversee the integration of renewable and conventional generation into the national grid. You will drive grid stability studies, advise on grid code compliance, and lead a team of engineers to deliver reliable and resilient infrastructure.

The role requires advanced power systems expertise, familiarity with South African grid codes, and strong stakeholder engagement with regulators and operators.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Power Systems Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Pr.Eng registration with ECSA is highly desirable.
• Proven leadership of engineering teams on complex grid projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead grid integration studies for new power generation projects (renewables, storage).
• Develop grid connection requirements, standards and procedures per regulations.
• Perform power flow, short-circuit and stability analyses using advanced software.
• Collaborate with grid operators, generation companies and regulators for approvals.
• Provide expert advice on grid code compliance and system impact assessments.
• Mentor and manage a team of grid engineers.
• Oversee design of grid interconnection facilities, protection systems and control schemes.
